Weekly Update!

Hello, Kindergarteners and their families!

We LOVED going to Benson's farm today, and picking out some corn and pumpkins! The farmer had a lot of great information for us, including what PART of the plants we eat!

Of course, that is not all we have done this week. Some other things we have done:

  • Learned about our five different food groups: grains, vegetables, fruits, protein and dairy. Boy, were we good at finding them in our lunches!
  • Practiced our popcorn words. We see them everywhere (even outside of the classroom)!
  • Learned about the words "fewer" and "greater" in relation to numbers. We now know that some numbers are bigger and smaller than other numbers!
  • Practiced writing our numbers and drawing shapes.
  • Practiced beginning sounds in words: we are so close to reading (if we aren't there already)!
  • Practiced letter NAMES now that we are zoo friend experts. We will continue to practice letter names and sounds in relation to one another. This could be an excellent thing to work on at home, if you feel like it!
  • And, we learned that we can ask questions, and that we know where we can find the answers. At home, let's think of some more questions about food that we can ask in class. Then, we can use books, reliable internet sources, and experts to find out answers to things we don't already know!
Some notes for parents:
  • The pumpkins we picked up today at the farm will be going home next week, after we do some fun projects with them!
  • Next week is Halloween. Please DO NOT have the kiddos come to school Friday with their costume on. They will put it on after lunch. As well, a reminder that we do not bring fake weapons with the costumes either. Thank you!
  • Please remember to have your child wear gym shoes on Thursday for P.E. They earn a point toward an activity in P.E. of their choice if they all have appropriate shoes on!
  • If you haven't already, please sign up for a conference time! Notes went home yesterday and an e-mail was sent out with a google doc link to sign up digitally.
Thank you all for coming this week, we love having all the Kindergarteners here! (And your parents too, when they come!)

Have a wonderful weekend,

Ms. Paoli and Ms. Carroll
